Duties of husband towards his wife in Islam
The almighty has made man superior and granted the men many roles and responsibilities and has made him wise and strong enough to take up decisions, and look after his family.
In today’s blog we will be discussing about the rights and duties of husband
"Men are not free from responsibilities; they have many duties to be fulfilled apart from the earning.
“Men are the maintainers of women because Allah has made some of them excel others, and because they spend out of their property (for the support of women.)” (Quran, 4:34)
Financial duty:
It is obligatory for husband to perform Mahr rites during the time of nikah. Undoubtedly a wife is husband’s responsibility, it is his duty to look after her needs, and aim to provide her with the best in provision, clothing, house and more, but it should not be a burden upon husband, it should be under his capacities only.
Care and love:
It is a duty of a husband to treat his wife respectfully, with love and kindness, understand her, and not abuse her or harm her in any manner. He should love his wife unconditionally, and support his wife always.
“Only an honorable man treats women with honor and integrity, and only a veil and dishonorable man humiliates and degrades women.”- Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.S)
Help your wife:
A husband should help his wife in household work, as it is considered as sunnah of our Prophet (S.A.W.S)
Take care of children equally:
It is a responsibility of husband to assist their children, as both husband and wife has equal rights to guide and assist their children. Your children are responsibility of your both not just one.
Respect your wife’s parent and her beloved ones:
It is husband’s responsibility to show respect and love towards her parents, relatives, and sibling.
